The health of a Staffy

The staffy is in general a healthy breed, but as with all breeds there are some things, that you need to ask your breeder before you buy a dog.

Be sure that the dog´s parents are tested free of the eye disease HC and L2HGA, which is a genetic disease in the brain that affects the dog´s ability to remember things.

Do also ask about any known allergies in the bloodline or parents and look at the teeth of the parents too. Ask about this matter directly to the breeder. Be aware that some dogs in this breed tend to have problems with cruciate ligament injury due to the way the dogs walk. Look closely at how the parents walk and run, and ask the breeder about this directly.

Any good breeder who care about his or hers dog´s health would love to reply your questions.
